Year 7 Western Treatment Plant
On Wednesday 5 August, Year 7 D, E, and I, experienced an information packed field trip of the Western Treatment Plant and Werribee Park.
In the words of 7I's class captain, Jay:
These experiences give us the chance to do something that we normally couldn't do in a regular classroom, like watching how water gets purified. All of these trips all relate back to our class work, and the general knowledge we learn from them is a lesson in itself.
Students toured the pondages by bus, while the Melbourne Water guide spoke about water treatment practices and the use of recycled water to grow grains and meat on their farm. After lunch we walked down to the Werribee River, behind the Mansion at Werribee Park, and viewed the flood plain and escarpment.
A fun and informative day was had by all. Thank you to Mr Micallef, Ms Pajalic, Ms Mortimer and Trish for accompanying Mrs Donaldson on the excursion.
