From the Principal Class Team

Dear Parents & Guardians

Parent Teacher Interviews are fast approaching, and we are looking forward to the opportunity to welcome you to the school for this important meeting.  Not only is it an opportunity for you to discuss your child’s progress with each of his or her teachers, but it also allows you to hear about new programs, and to see the latest improvements to the school environment.

Celebrating our Education Support Staff

August is Education Support Staff Month, and a fitting time to formally recognise the significant and varied contributions of our ES team to the leadership, administration and programs that define our school and influence the educational experience of each of our students.

We are very fortunate to have such a highly skilled, dedicated ES team.  On behalf of the students, parents and teaching staff, we thank them for the commitment, knowledge and support they bring to their work each day.

How is your child progressing?

Teachers have recently completed mid term progress reports for each student.  And our parent portal means that you have easy access to detailed, up to date information on your daughter or son’s attitude, attendance and achievement in each subject.

Term 3 progress reports will be available on the portal from Friday 21 August.  Year Level Coordinators have been interviewing students about their progress and contacting parents of any student who is at risk of unsatisfactory results in two or more subjects.  Please take time to read over the progress reports, and feel free to contact your child’s Year Level Coordinator if you have any concerns or questions.

On Tuesday 1 September, we will hold Parent Teacher Interviews from 1.00pm to 7.00pm.  These are an excellent opportunity for you to meet with each of your child’s teachers to discuss their achievements, and any areas of the learning that need to be addressed.  We expect all parents to attend the interviews, and students are also strongly encouraged to come along and be part of the conversation about their progress.

A letter and text message have been sent to all parents about the interviews, and students should now be completing their booking sheets.

We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 1 September.

Parent Opinion Survey

Each year the Department of Education and Training requires us to survey a random sample of parents about their views of the College. Later in the year we will be given collated results of this data, which various will analyse to see what we are doing well, and where improvements can be made.

We would like to thank to all of those parents who participated in this year’s Parent Opinion Survey. We greatly appreciate the time you put in to complete this important survey.

Beacon Bonanza

On Wednesday 25 August, all Year 10 students took part in the Annual Beacon Bonanza. Students participated in Speed Careering, where they were able to speak in small groups with a number of business and community members about their careers and the pathway they have taken  so far. Students were also able to listen to Travis Demsey, drummer from local Melbourne band The Living End. Travis spoke about his life, and the choices he made to make a successful career. We believe that these activities support Year 10 students as they make their subject and pathway decisions leading in Year 11.
