RONE Arts Excursion

On the first week of the school holidays, Senior Arts students and staff went to visit Melbourne artist Rone’s recent temporary exhibition ‘EMPIRE’ at Burnham Beeches manor, in Melbourne’s Dandenong Ranges.
Part exhibition, part installation, part VR and AR experience, EMPIRE combines art, vision, sound, light, botanical design and scent to take audiences on a hauntingly immersive multi-sensory journey into a reimagined past of a faded icon.
The Burnham project reimagines the spirit of one of Victoria’s landmark mansions, not accessed since the 1980s. The exhibition was enjoyed by both staff and students.

"The Rone Empire exhibition was an amazing look into an abandonment and a worn-down mansion holding detailed artwork such as a bedroom draped in dust that was intentionally placed. Each room had a portrait of a woman along with the abandoned objects creating an eerie and lonely mood. The building was of the art deco period and was a celebration of the architecture. This exhibition however was a once in a lifetime event and is only showing for a limited time period before the refurbishing of the mansion."
