Principal's Report

ANZAC Day
Anzac Day is one of Australia’s most important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The soldiers in those forces quickly became known as Anzacs, and the pride they soon took in that name endures to this day. On Anzac Day, we commemorate the men and women who have served in our Armed Forces, those who have sacrificed themselves for our freedom and way of life
At Staughton College, we honour Anzac Day in a number of ways. Our School Captains Zac Neal, Caitlyn Powely, Rachel Portelli, Tegan Dial and Jessica Mitrevski represented Staughton at the Melton RSL Anzac Day Services, where they laid wreaths at the memorial on behalf of the school community. One of our student leaders, Jacob Smart, a Leading Cadet in the Air Force Cadets, was invited to read the requiem at the morning service.
For the first time this year, our Anzac assembly was entirely student led. All students are to be commended on the respectful way they approached the assembly.
Student Free Day
Just a reminder that we have a Student Free Day on Thursday, May 2nd. Staff will be working on High Impact Teaching Strategies, and looking at evidence of student learning, to plan how to teach the students what they are ready to learn next. Friday, the 3rd of May is a normal school day. It is important that all students return to school for classes this Friday.

We, at Staughton College, would like to show our respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is situated, of elders past and present. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits our school.
