6W Christian Service Excursion

As part of our Christian Service outreach, the Year 6 classes visit The Shopfront. The Shopfront provides assistance and acts as a referral to visitors who may be experiencing difficulties dealing with problems in their life such as accommodation, budgeting, depression, hunger, loneliness, addictions, violence. The boys see how The Shopfront operates and how the volunteers who work there are making a difference to those in need. Each year the Junior School also conducts a food tin drive to assist this not-for-profit organisation. On Thursday, the Year 6 Blue class visited Shopfront.

House Cross Country

Thursday was our house cross country carnival. All the boys put in an amazing effort and pushed themselves to do their personal best. Congratulations to the winning house Xavier and to the individual medalists listed below. Good luck to the boys who are representing the College in the JPSSA Cross Country Competition.

5W Make Rice Paper Rolls

The Year 5 White class enjoyed a fun morning on Wednesday making rice paper rolls with TC parent Dr MJ Ong. MJ explained the history of rice paper rolls and how they are made, while discussing the importance of having a well balanced diet and even encouraging our boys to 'eat the rainbow'. The boys then went on to create their very own production line to assemble their delicious rice paper rolls. Thank you MJ for visiting!

Hats

During the months of June and July, students are not required to wear hats when outside. This is in line with SunSmart Schools policy guidelines as the average UV index during these months are below 3.

Junior School Music Night

The Junior School Music Night will take place on the evening of Friday, 10th June. There will be both large and small groups performing on the evening, which will involve most of the boys in the Junior School.

Prefects Corner

By Joel Murabito and Jacob Tran

This week had lots of things going on in the Junior School like cross country and an early finish this Friday. Firstly, Year 5 White had their reconciliation in the Chapel and I’m sure that all the Year 5s in that class are feeling nice and relived as they are clean of sin, however there are still some more classes to complete their reconciliation for this year.

Next, Year 6 Blue went on their excursion to the shopfront which is a charity mainly helping people who don’t have as much as us. We hoped they really enjoyed it learning about all the good things you can do to prevent poverty and about the histories and stories of shopfront.

Because we’ve had a bye this week from sport, Mr Thompson had decided and put in the effort that it was time for cross country! This week, the Year 4s ran 1.6km, the year 5s ran 2.5km which is also a 900m jump from when they did it last year, and the Year 6s ran 3km! All the students did an amazing job in their cross country and should congratulate their selves on 1; that they completed the race, and 2; that the students achieved their personal bests!

Finally, because next Monday we are celebrating WA Day, we are having a long weekend and with it, the students are finishing early at 12:45pm so they will get the rest of the afternoon off. I bet the students are going to love this public holiday!
