Soccer - Year 7

Claire Blower

Hi All,

I just wanted to extend a huge thanks to Jess Rainsford and Trav Parsons for taking out netball and soccer on Friday last week. We already saw Jess’ update about Year 7 netball, but here is little snapshot of the boys experience at soccer as well written by Trav.

On Friday 3rd June, the Year 7 boys ventured to Wendouree West Recreation Reserve to compete against other schools in soccer. The boys played two games that were played in good spirits but unfortunately weren’t able to get enough goals on the board in either game to get a win.

Game 1 was played against Ballarat High School in a 3-0 loss. The boys had multiple shots on goal with one only just missing from Jesse Hamilton. The boys were solid in defence rebounding many of their chances but unfortunately couldn’t keep them all out. Highlights were Cayden Russell and Nicolas Nikolic being our main men down in defence.

Game 2 was against Phoenix College in another loss but this time the boys were able to manage to get 2 goals on the board. The final score was 5-2 with both of our goals coming from Nixen Manea, one of which being the highlight of the day hitting the top of the net from a fair distance away.

Overall the boys had a fantastic time and everyone was able to get on the field and have a go. We rotated the goalies around as well to give everyone the opportunity to have a go in goalie and in the outfield.

Again, if you see these students around, please give them a pat on the back, they were so well behaved and incredibly resilient and really enjoyed the day out!

Kind Regards,
