PRIDE WEEK

This piece in today’s Courier is reflective of the amazing ongoing work that Rachael and the team are engaged in to ensure all students are supported at Woodmans Hill SC. 

Hearing our students speak yesterday, it is clear that we all play a part in making them feel safe at school. This occurs when we call out  and report all forms of homophobia; when we use the correct pronouns for students; and when we create classrooms that are welcoming places that our students feel that they belong in. Our aim is to achieve the Rainbow Tick so that we can improve conditions for our LGBTQIA+.

I am really excited by the plans for Pride Week: as a parent who has lived experience of how tough school can be for their child to gain acknowledgement and acceptance for their gender identity, I’m proud to lead a school that celebrates and is supportive of our LGBTQIA+ students.
