PERFORMING ARTS

This term has been filled with musical notes, percussion instruments, Boomwhacker play-along performances, djembe drums, singing and ukulele strumming. Students from Prep through to Year 5/6 have been dancing, learning about the elements of music and working on the skills needed to perform with instruments - in a variety of spaces around the school!

LIBRARY

Last week, Prep - Year 6 students participated in National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS). Each year, a book is selected to be read simultaneously all around Australia and New Zealand. This year's NSS book was Family Tree by Josh Pyke and Ronojoy Ghosh. 

This week during library lessons, students have been invited to make connections to the text by considering their 'roots' (things that are special to them) and their 'leaves' (their hopes and dreams for the future). Students have enjoyed adding their work to our whole school family tree in the Library!

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

The students in year 1/2 have been lucky to have Tennis Coach, Stephen join us for PE classes.  Stephen will teach the students basic tennis skills during a 4 week program.   The students have enjoyed hitting the ball off the 'fishing rod', hitting with friends and even rallying with Coach Stephen.  

CONGRATULATIONS  

DINA T, AIDEN K  TYLER B AND SCOTT for qualifying for the Monash Waverley Division Cross Country event.  This event was held today - one of the coldest days of 2022 so far!

Due to illness, only Dina was able to compete today in the girls 9/10 year old 2km race. Battling wind, rain, mud and about 85 other competitors, Dina finished in 37th place!  An amazing achievement!  

Visual Arts

The art room has been a hive of activity lately.  There are so many projects being completed by every class.  Some have included painting and drawing, others included making 3D art works.

The preps have used clay for the first time, learning how to knead the clay, roll clay and pinch it to make a bowl shape. These pinchpots are then being decorated to make a coral home for beautiful fish.  We hope you enjoy the photos of our making process.  To see our final products you will need to join us at the art show later this year.
