From the Principal

Week 2 Term 2 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

I trust all the mothers in our community had a wonderful Mother's Day. It was a beautiful day weather wise.  Once again I would like to thank our Parents and Friends Association for their work in organising the Mother's Day dinner and stall. I hope the mums enjoyed receiving their gift!!!!

3/4 Camp

Our 3/4s will be attending the Mt Evelyn YMCA camp next Monday through to Wednesday.  This is the first 3/4 camp at St Bede's. Some children are feeling excited whilst others are feeling nervous. These are all natural feelings. Before Monday please remind your child that the staff are there to assist them in anyway to ensure the camp experience is an enjoyable one. For those families who have a child attending, my mobile number is in the booklet in case of an emergency.  All children are to test for COVID on  Monday morning and confirm negative results on arrival at school on the Monday morning. If you require more RAT tests please contact the office and we can provide you with some. RATS will be taken on camp and parents will be contacted if staff feel it is necessary to test.

Sporting Houses

Congratulations

The winner of the "naming of the sporting houses":  is the Fraser Family

They will receive a $100 restaurant voucher kindly donated by the Parents and Friends Association.

Naplan

This week our Yr 3 and  5 students have participated in the annual Naplan testing.

The school uses the data gathered through this testing to look at any trends( usually over a 5 year period) and to help set future goals for our students and school.

I know I showed our  community this  data last year but with Naplan happening this week it might be timely to remind our community of  how our students performed in 2021

Year 3

Year 5

Some standout  points that can be seen from the above data.

  • Our students on average perform higher then both state and national across all curriculum areas.
  • Our students  performing above the expected level are matching those students across the state that are performing at these levels.

Congratulations

Congratulation to Kahli Schroder and  her partner Lachie on the birth of Heidi Claire born on the 9th May. We can't wait to meet her in the near future.

STEM

This week our STEM room is looking very different.  What do you think??

Over the next few years our aim is to replace all the old furniture throughout the school.

Uniform

Just a reminder that all students are expected to be in winter uniform as of this Monday. If for some reason a child needs to be out of the correct uniform then their teacher needs to be informed of the reason why.

Cross Country

Good luck to all the students who are representing St Bede's at the district cross country carnival tomorrow. I will let you know how they perform in next week's newsletter.

Have a great week
