Principal's Message

Dear parents, students and the wider community,

We have had another busy week at St Anne's.

This weekend we celebrate Pentecost Sunday. It is a time we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit on the disciples of Jesus after his Ascension. Fr Martin has extended an invitation to all children and their families to join our Mass at 10am where there will be different activities for children.

The children will also celebrate Mass together at school with Fr Martin on Wednesday and take part in some Pentecost activities to mark this special occasion.

Our Grade 3-6 students have had a busy week with swimming each day. It was certainly a cold week for it,  but it is an important skill for them all to learn, particularly because we are all lucky enough to live so close to the beach. Thank you to Mrs Ary for her organisation of this and to the staff that attended each day. A thank you must also be given to parents for managing to get wet bathers dry and ready for the next day, not an easy feat in this cold weather!

On Friday 27 May our Year 5 and 6 students worked with facilitators from Resilient Youth Australia learning how to be PLAY leaders. They learnt games that encourage team work and cooperation. We look forward to our senior students running game sessions for our younger students at break times.

On Tuesday 31st May some of our students traveled to Hasting to compete in the Division Cross Country. You should be very proud of the way you represented yourselves and our school. It is a wonderful effort to get to this level of Cross Country.  Thank you to parents who took their children to this event.

Thank you to Ms O'Donnell and Ms Holmes for organising an incursion for our school. The children enjoyed a workshop on Wednesday 1st June with Living Culture. They learnt about indigenous culture and how Aboriginals used nature in their everyday life.

Next Friday 10th June is a Student Free day. Our staff will work closely with Georgina Manning to learn about supporting students with anxiety in the classroom. We have previously worked with Georgina and know it will be a rich day of learning for our staff. Thank you for making alternate arrangements for your child on this day.

Tuesday 14th June we hold our parent information session with Georgina Manning. Please check Seesaw for the link to attain a ticket to this evening. You need to tap on 'view original' to be able to book a ticket. We will be holding a movie night for the children on this night, more information will come out about this next week.

Mr Shaw is checking in regularly with us while he is away, and I know he is looking forward to seeing us all next week.  He will post the links and information about Parent Teacher Interviews next week in the newsletter as these will be held in the last week of term.

God Bless and have a great week.
