Summer Days and Christmas!

The start of summer and the festive period has brought us a fun and exciting fortnight at before and after school care as we near the end of the school year.

Last week our program explored the change in seasons, with lots of Summer themed activities and fun in the sun outside (when the weather permitted!). This included craft experiences, such as making sun and sandcastle art, dying seashells with colourful shaving foam, chalk drawings, and watermelon sun-catchers. We also engaged in some great cooking and science activities which were very popular, including making cheese and biscuit 'suns' and investigating the protective effects of sunscreen through a sunscreen painting experiment! And of course, there were plenty of games of ship, shark, shore!

This week we kicked off our two weeks of Christmas activities with lots of festive fun and excitement, and plenty of singalongs to our favourite Christmas songs. We have already engaged in so many Christmas activities, including making salt dough ornaments, Santa hat strawberries, Christmas sensory bottles, and playing pin the nose on the reindeer! In particular, the children are loving seeing where our cheeky elf Candy Cane is hiding when they arrive at the hall - so far we have found him in some very funny spots and can't wait to see what he gets up to next week.

We are really looking forward to another Christmas-filled week as we near the end of term, and wish everyone a safe, happy and healthy festive period!

End of year Goodbyes :(

Next week sadly for our term time only kids we have to say goodbye to Amelia and Trish :(

Trish started with us in February 2021 and has seen us through  a strange year last year as we navigated through the second year of covid and this very busy full year as we have returned to normal school life. We have not seen as much of Trish in the last few months as she has already been working as a Primary school teacher and we wish her well as she starts her new career.

Amelia has been a big part of New Adventure and joined us in her first year at Monash University studying her Bachelor of Primary education back in May 2019 !! For the last four years she has progressed from Junior floor assistant to our very amazing Afternoon Coordinator and its going to be very strange for us and all our families not having Amelia greet us in the afternoon. Her caring nature and her true love of teaching has always shone through, always having the childrens best interests at heart and putting so much into our educational programs. We are so thrilled that she has secured a position as a Prep teacher at a Primary school in Casey LGA for 2023. Although New Adventure St Augustines will miss her terribly we wish her well in her new role.
