WEEK 10

STRAWBERRIES

PLUM PLUDDING & CHRISTMAS TREATS

Well, that brings us to the end of the Kitchen& Garden program for 2022.

During that time we have planted, grown, harvested, cooked and shared an AMAZING array of food. How fortunate are the children here at St Augustines to be part of such a wonderful program!

To end the year we used strawberries to create mini Santas, made mini plum puddings and also a hot chocolate with marshmellows to top it off.

We also had a very special visit from Michelle

(Mia Faro's Mum), who brought along the chef from their family restaurant "Unica Cucina" . Not only did the chef bring along some amazing Italian crostoli and shortbread he had made for us, but he also got his hands dirty in the kitchen and used the potatoes from our garden to made us some delicious potato and herb croquettes. We were super lucky to have an opportunity like this and we thank Michelle for such a great morning.

The children loved making these mini treats and can definietly re-create them at home.

I would like to take the opportunity to send a big THANKYOU to all the parents who came to volunteer in our program: your support is much appreciated!!

Happy Christmas and enjoy a safe holiday with your families. See you next year!

Garden News......

Our Summer garden has been filled with loads of beautiful flowers and we have been using all the differnt colours to make Flower Christmas Trees.

Our 1/2's have been busy getting our veggie beds ready for the summer break, we planted pumpkins, zuchinnis and silverbeet, we also planted carrot seeds and look forward to seeing how much they'll grow over the holidays.

Not even the rain could stop our 5/6's from finishing off their amazing stick teepees and Christmas trees. Great job.

It was also a fantastic potato collection session with our 1/2's and finally rest time after all our hard work in the garden.

Its been an amazing year in the garden and we are so grateful to all our students and parents that have worked so hard to create a growing shared space.-  A BIG THANK YOU TO YOU ALL. WISHING YOU A BLESSED AND CHRISTMAS.

 Happy Gardening.
