Principal's Message

Dear Parents,

At this time of the year we celebrate and focus on all of the accomplishments evident in our school community.  Last Friday we held our end of year prayer service and celebration where  students, parents and staff gathered in the hall to celebrate the 2022 school year. During the service we reflected on all that we have accomplished and how students in our school have been shining throughout the year.  We spoke about making sure as a community that we build each other up and celebrate all that we do. Students sang “Reach for the stars!” as the final song as we continue to strive to be our very best and dream of achieving wonderful things together at St. Joseph’s.

Our whole school theme for this week is peace and love and celebrating our accomplishments through agency.  Peace comes from the Hebrew word shalom: completeness, soundness, tranquil, calm, friendship, health and prosperity. Advent is a time to reflect on the birth of Jesus and to pray for peace. Peace in our hearts, peace in our lives, peace in the world!

Today our Year 5 students participated in a leadership day.  We are so proud of the way our senior students lead with agency in our school. It is so important to allow students to have a voice, make a difference and build their leadership capabilities. We look forward to all of the student agency we will witness throughout 2023 as our upcoming senior students strive to be of service to others.

This week we continue on with our transition program for each class. All students will spend tomorrow Tuesday 6th December with their new 2023 class teacher from 11.30am to 1pm. We wish our current Year 6 students going to Padua College  the best of luck on their orientation day to Secondary school.

We had our end of year School Advisory Council meeting and dinner prepared by the wonderful school chef Matt DeMarte last Wednesday night and I take this opportunity to thank our wonderful parents on the School Advisory Council for all that they have done throughout the 2022 school year.
