Being Well at Magill

Welcome Back!

Our first day back this year could not have looked any different than this time last year. Last year, teachers returned to remote teaching for the first two weeks; only our new receptions and year one students on site. All of our buildings and play areas were operational.

Fast forward 12 months and not only do we have everyone at school on day one: from our new reception students through to year 6, but we are also operating with a whole section of our school currently under refurbishment. Our reception children are to be found all over the school both downstairs and up on the first floor, play areas have been reduced and children of all ages are sharing spaces.

It has therefore been wonderful to watch the consideration of our older students. They have waited patiently as young five-year-olds navigate the stairs and corridors. There have been plenty of year 6 buddies to read to and play with some of our shyer reception students.

A dedicated play space was created for new students to feel they could call their own. For the first few days this was a busy area, filled with nervous, overwhelmed, somewhat lost children. At the end of two weeks, it is a much quieter space as many students have developed the confidence to explore new areas in the playground.

Stay well!
