Leadership Report

Welcome to 2023 at Magill School!

We're two weeks into the term and it's great to see how settled all the classes are. We focus much or our time and energy in the first few weeks to building relationships and setting our students up for success by negotiating important class routines and structures. I look forward to  our students participating in the many fun and exciting experiences  planned for them this year. 

A warm welcome to all of our new students and families. I hope that the first few weeks have allowed you to transition into Magill successfully, and that new friendships have been formed. 

Acquaintance Night is a great opportunity to meet teachers and hear about aspects of life in their classrooms. Although we do lots of things the same, each teacher will have their own way of doing things in their class and it's important that parents are aware of the differences. Please book into a session using the link on the following page. We still have to follow safe COVID protocols when holding school events so only those booked into sessions can attend. We also encourage the use of masks and sanitizer. Also, if you are sick, please stay home. Teachers will send all information home for those who missed out on sessions. 

Our AGM will be held straight after Acquaintance Night in the Gym. I encourage parents to attend. 2022 reports will be shared and the election (if needed) of Governing Council representatives will take place. Please book your attendance via the link on the AGM page later in the newsletter. 

Although COVID restrictions have eased significantly in the community, schools still have to plan and operate following The Department for Education's guidelines.  We still report positive cases and if the number of cases hit certain markers, The Education Department can enforce a range of measures to contain and reduce the spread of COVID. It is important that we maintain our level of hygiene and that sick students stay home until symptoms have cleared. 

The building works are progressing well and it's exciting to see it all taking shape. Everyone has done a great job working around all the restrictions and this will continue to happen for a while. Each day gets us closer to the project's completion and we all look forward to moving into the new spaces.

Lots to look forward to this year and I'm sure 2023 will be one of our best years yet!
