New Calrossy Board

 Chair

Calrossy welcomed its new Chair of the Board, Rev. Ian Millican last week.  Mr David Lamb has resigned after six years in the role and nine years on the Board. His letter to the Calrossy community can be read here

Rev. Ian Millican is a Sydney boy who grew up around Beecroft and West Pennant Hills. After high school years at James Ruse and Pennant Hills High schools, Ian studied Economics at Sydney Uni, before working with Coopers and Lybrand as a Chartered Accountant in their Sydney, Darwin and London offices.

Jesus entered Ian’s life in September 1986, which eventually led to a move out of accountancy to study theology at Moore Theological College. Ian’s first position post-College was as Assistant Minister at St Paul’s Shellharbour, where he spent 2.5 years, before moving to Berowra to become Senior Minister of St Mark’s, Berowra for 22 years.

During his time at Berowra Ian was asked to join the Council of Abbotsleigh school, which he did. Ian served on that Council for 15 years, including the last seven as Chair of the Council.

Ian is married to Melinda, and they have 4 adult children; one of whom lives in Gosford and the other three are still in Sydney.

In 2021 Ian and Melinda decided to make the move to Armidale (Melinda is a Tamworth girl, whose sister attended Calrossy), for Ian to take up the position as Assistant to the Anglican Bishop of Armidale, Rod Chiswell. Ian and Rod had attended Moore College at the same time and had remained friends over the ensuing years. Ian’s work as Assistant to the Bishop includes such diverse responsibilities as preaching in various churches as needed, Archdeacon for the New England, Examining Chaplain for those considering coming to minster in the Diocese, one of our Safe Ministry trainers, work on various Ordinances, protocols and policies, and now on the Board of Calrossy.

Ian is delighted and thankful to have the opportunity and privilege to serve Christ at Calrossy as part of a great team with other Board members, and with the Executive and other staff. Ian looks forward to meeting the Calrossy community over time, and would value your prayers for him and for Calrossy.
