House Cross Country
The weather was hot, the house cheers were loud and the students were amazing!
What a great first up sporting event for the year. It was so nice to see everyone displaying the school values, showing so much pride for their house.
It was one of the tightest points races we have had. Congratulations to Biik who came out on top by 1 point!
1st - Biik on 250 points
2nd - Wiiny on 249 points
3rd - Baany on 247 points
4th - Munmut on 222 points
A special mention to our school leaders who did such a wonderful job, whether it was marshalling students, leading the house chants or running the course with the junior students, they were superstars!
We would also like to thank all our fabulous volunteers who made the event a success, as they say any hands make light work and we love the support we get from the school community when it comes to events.
Lastly, a massive round of applause to Mrs Forbes for coordinating the event - you are an absolute natural on the megaphone!

V.I.S Athlete Guest Speakers
As part of the 'Be Fit Be Well' program run by the Victorian Institute of Sport the year 5 and 6 students attended a presentation by brothers Josh and Nathan Katz. Both have represented Australia in the sport of Judo at the Olympic Games.
The students loved hearing about their respective journeys and the challenges they have faced. It also was a great link to our school values.
It is opportunities like these that light the fires inside our little people to believe in themselves and their hopes and aspirations.
Casey Netball Clinics
Our year 4, 5 & 6 students were lucky enough to take part in a netball clinic during their physical education lesson this week. These clinics were run by qualified coaches from Casey Netball. The students engaged in a variety of fun skill based activities. We are very appreciative of opportunites like these. If your child would like to join a team please visit the Casey Netball website for more information. https://www.caseynetball.com/

Social Wellbeing
In Social Wellbeing we have continued looking at the Zones of Regulation with a focus on identifying what our body is telling us and choosing the correct strategy through the tool Stop, Opt and Go.
The students have been discussing and role playing how to Stop what they are doing and listen to what their bodies are telling them, and acknowledging the zone. Then thinking of their OPTion. Do they need a strategy to help regulate their bodies. Once they know what their body is telling them and they have used their tool, they are good to go again.
Environmental Studies
It's all about trees in Nature Play. We have been exploring the importance of trees in our environment, students shared their knowledge about trees and learned how to care for them.
In the kitchen we made Veggie Pasties which were quite a hit and Peach Tartlets, using peaches from our trees, that we had previously peeled and frozen.
Year 5/6 are looking at renewable energy sources and have designed and built their own solar ovens. We are hoping to harness the energy of the sun next week and bake some cookies!

Students have demonstrated what they have learnt so far about art theory through comparing artworks from different contexts using collaboartive learning techniques. They have began to identify and describe the Elements of Art and Principles of Design within their own and others' artworks. They reflected on their artwork and compared how their peers interpreted their artwork to themselves.
For Multicultural Week we studied Notan, a Japanese paper cutting technique focusing on positive and negative space.
