Parish celebrations

The girls were amazing in their choir for our parish celebrations.

Sunday the 20th of November marked the feast of Christ the King (the name of our church in St. Mel's Parish). The Feast of Christ the King marks the end of ordinary time in the liturgical calendar and we move into the season of Advent and begin the new liturgical year.

The parish celebrated with a wonderful community event, with around 150 people attending, it was fantastic to gather together and share some delicious food and conversations and enjoy the magnificent entertainment.

Thank you to all those who contributed to the success of the day, from the PPC members who coordinated the event, the brave who got up on stage, those who donated and for the food offerings and cooks, and the crew behind the scenes.

What a great community we have here at St Mel’s.

Congratulations to all.

Prep Transition Days

Our Prep Transitions continued on 25th November and was lovely to see the children back and starting to feel comfortable in the learning spaces.  We had lots of fun, singing, and stories. We sure do have some very creative preps coming next year. We can't wait to see them again on 13th December.

3 / 4s Mission Mart of Foodshare

Missions Fair for Foodshare!

After what seemed like forever, after weeks of planning, gathering, organizing and hard work, the Grade 3/4 Missions Fair for Foodshare arrived!

The day was filled with buzz and excitement across the school. Was it for the exciting games and treats, or was it to duct tape a certain principal to a wall?

It was wonderful to see the hard work and planning of the 3/4 students come to life. We saw joy everywhere we turned during the Fair and were ever so impressed by the independence and leadership shown by the 3/4 children.

The fun of the day ticked one goal of the 3/4 students, to make an exciting event for their peers.

The second goal, the one that brought this idea, raising money for Foodshare.

It is my pleasure to announce that in total we raised $3473.20! A giant effort, on which we can only thank our amazing school and community donors for!

Our day had only been successful through the generosity of our school community, from the 3/4 families to staff in our school, donating to our prize pool and stall equipment.

We also have many local businesses to thank, that either financially supported us or donated products and prizes!

Finally, the biggest thank you to the 3/4 students and teachers for their hard work to bring this all together! So many things went on in the background to make this day amazing, everyone’s hard work and contribution had been incredible!

There were lots of fun photos taken during our Mission Mart, here are a selection of a few.
