Vision for Learning

DISA Survey

In Week 7 a random sample of parents will be receiving a link to a parent survey. Unlike the Quality Schools survey that you completed a few weeks ago this one rounds off a four year project working to focus our teaching and learning program and create the Vision for Learning.  The same survey was completed by parents, students and staff four years ago.  This is the vital closing survey that measures our improvement in alignment of each stakeholders in our communities perception of the learning that happens here.  This is a very important survey for us and we would encourage you to please complete it.

Share-Your-Career Program

Thank you to those who have already sent your names and careers in, and volunteered your time to support our idea. While we have a few volunteers so far, we do need more for the program to be as successful as it can be. The goal of the day is to give Year 10 students a glimpse of where their subjects could take them in the future, so it doesn’t matter what your career is, your contribution would be greatly appreciated. For example, under the banner of mathematics, a carpenter would offer insight into a practical application of maths. The time commitment is a ten minute talk about your career and how it is related to the subject area of focus and then any other subjects. The program will start early next term. We made a quick brainstorm list of possible careers: Carpenter, other trades, Architect, Graphic Designer, Musician/Performer, Lighting/ Sound specialist, Winemaker, Horticulturalist, Artist, Marketing, Real Estate Agent, Travel Agent, Scientist, Journalist. This is just a few ideas and not an exhaustive list.  We would love to hear from you. Your volunteering will greatly assist the Year 10 students in their future pathways.

Learning Enrichment

On Thursday 10 March a group of senior students attended the conference Big Ideas for Bright Minds Gifted & Talented Conference. Presented by Academy Conferences, this Oxford Masterclass promoted excellence in thinking for diverse learners through a series of short but stimulating multi-disciplinary lectures. Each theme identified and challenged students' preconceived ideas and empowered them in the process of thinking independently and creatively about the world around them. Students were encourage to think systematically about modern day issues and improve their overall persuasion skills.

A thoroughly and enjoyable day for all students.
