Congratulations to everyone involved in our 'World's Greatest Shave' campaign again this year! Not only have we raised over $10,000 for the Leukaemia foundation but we were also the highest fundraising school for the second year in a row!
Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week
What is a Teacher Aide? It is someone who can be:
understanding, friendly, patient, sensitive, empathetic, creative, responsive, encouraging, positive, committed, comforting, funny, caring, supportive, knowledgeable, respectful, unique, professional, welcoming, contributing, helpful, enthusiastic, hardworking, reliable, trained, calm, flexible, motivating, insightful, practical, loving, active, goal-oriented, kind, considerate, thoughtful, concerned, resourceful, imaginative, pleasant, co-operative, reassuring, hopeful, fun, ….and SIMPLY AMAZING!!
This week is Australian Teacher Aide Appreciation Week and we want to take this opportunity to thank those people who work alongside teachers at SCC to support our students.

Apple for the Teacher
Your local radio station 101.7 7HOFM is once more on the hunt for Southern Tasmania’s favourite Primary School Teacher! The winning teacher will win an Apple MacBook Air for themselves and every student in the class wins an iPad.
The following Southern Christian College teachers have been nominated:
Mrs Jo Otto, Mrs Tash de Lacy and Mr Chris Banham. You can vote for them at the following address: 7hofm.com.au/apple-for-the-teacher/vote
At the end of the voting period the teacher with the most votes will win the Apple MacBook Air for themselves and every student in the class wins an iPad.
Voting Period: Tuesday August 17 (8:30am) – Thursday September 3 (5pm) 2020
The winning teacher and school will be announced shortly after!
Operation Christmas Child
The Doulos is running OCC this year and will be placing boxes in each classroom for the collection of donations. There will be a prize for the class with the most donations. More information to come in the following weeks.
All donations must:
- be new items
- not have a use by date (e.g. food of any kind)
- not be liquid items (e.g. toothpaste, liquid soaps, playdough)
IMPORTANT REMINDER
Parents are reminded that students should not attend school if they are showing cold or flu-like symptoms. Students displaying these symptoms at school will be sent home.
COVID-19: If a parent or child is diagnosed with COVID-19 or has had contact with an infected person, you must notify the College immediately.

How to talk to your child about Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19):
Call your GP or the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 to be tested for COVID-19 if you have any symptoms of:
- a fever
- runny nose
- cough
- sore/itchy throat, or
- shortness of breath.
If you have serious symptoms, such as difficulty breathing, call Triple Zero (000) and ask for an ambulance.
