Year 9 Rite Journey

On Monday the Year 9 classes headed out to complete a challenge day for Rite Journey.

The boys braved it out hiking up Mt Lofty while the girls completed the Adelaide TreeClimb Adventure Course.

As we approached the TreeClimb course there were whispers of nervous apprehension. We looked up at the various obstacles strung between the trees, high above our heads. There were several courses to challenge us, including a zipline course.

I have to say how proud I am of the girls for really pushing themselves today! There was a can-do spirit in them and they didn't give up, even when some of the obstacles seemed impossible! They were really encouraging of each other and helped each other through the tricky parts. What an awesome experience we all had! At the debrief at the end of the day, they discovered that they had learned a lot about themselves and that they are capable of achieving great things.

Repetition is the mother of all learning

Ever heard, “Why do I have to do this again?!” Well, the reason we practice things over and over is because repetition causes knowledge to move from short term to long term memory thus creating room in our short term memory for NEW information, which equals growth!

Parents, please ensure your children are practicing their items for our upcoming Primary and High School Music nights. Those students learning a musical instrument or voice must practice at least 30mins every day! The self-discipline of daily music practice benefits all areas of a students life, preparing them for greater success in work, life and further study!

Ps. It’s actually not true that ‘practice makes perfect’, but rather ‘perfect practice makes perfect performance! Like I say, you get good at what you practice so practice being good!

Enrichment Group

On Friday 18 September, the older students from the Enrichment Group visited the Museum of Discovery (MOD). They enjoyed moving through interactive spaces, as they learnt about possible trajectories for technologies, climate change and the future of work. The younger students explored and made countless discoveries at the South Australian Museum.
