Boarding

Welcoming boarders back

On Sunday the 4th we were pleased to welcome back our Year 11 and 12 boarders to the respective Houses. The energy, excitement and enthusiasm were at an all-time high in the House with boarders screaming and yelling to once again be united with friends. I would like to express my gratitude to all families for their wonderful care and preparation of our boarders in their return. Likewise, our staff have been anticipating the return of boarders for some time, and equally, I thank them for their hard work in preparing our last term.

Boarding is such a wonderful experience for young men and women to learn the value of friendship and family. Having bee away from each other for such a long time, it was clearly evident the value of boarding and the importance of living with each means to our seniors. We all understand this term will be one where we will be hitting the books hard and maintain our focusing on achieving our very best. And if I am not mistaken, each one of our senior boarders has the determined look in their eye to do their best. I wish each of them the success that they truly deserve in enduring this year thus far.

Our boarding captains, Lizzie Duver and Ben McCure had also taken it upon themselves to welcome ‘home’ boarders with a letter left on each boarders’ desk. The words our captains have written are compassionate, kind, optimistic, and reflect resilience. I could not be prouder of our captains, and each and every one of our boarders, welcome back!

Dear Year 12 boarders,

As your boarding house captains, we would like to take the opportunity to formally welcome you back to the boarding house for Term 4.

The term that we have remaining together as a boarding cohort is extremely valuable to us and we hope you all feel the same way. We think it is of utmost importance that we all enjoy each other’s company during the precious time we have left which is why we really want to encourage everyone to really make the most out of our last term of boarding.

Although this year we’ve spent as much time away from the boarding house as we have in, we hope that we have and will continue to forge a strong connection and bond as a Year 12 boarding group. Everyone having the best ending to their boarding journey is something that is imperative during this time and that we care about.

It has been such a pleasure to be your leaders this year and we have thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you all sincerely for being such a wonderful year level to work alongside. We’re sure your hard work and dedication during this challenging year will pay off but please also remember that it will be the memories made at the boarding house that we will all carry with us well into the future.

Kind regards,

Ben McCure and Lizzie Duver

Speirs and Macdonald House captains

Boarding Activities

Each term our staff work hard in preparing activities for our boarders to enjoy on the weekends. These activities range from in-house competitions, brief excursions to local sights, and extended activities such as surfing, paddle boarding, and mountain climbing. Our activities are also an opportunity for all boarders to extend their leadership, teamwork, and organisation skills.

There will be no casual boarding for Term 4.
