Basketball News

Hopefully some of you have already seen or heard this information and know what is happening with the HBA for the remainder of 2020 and 2021 and have started to be able to consider your involvement – if not please read carefully what is outlined below.

Basically, the HBA is hoping that a new season of juniors only will start during November and continue up until the last week of Term 1, 2021 (with a break over school holidays).

So the seasons will now be SUMMER(Terms 1 and 4) and WINTER(Terms 2 and 3).So this means there is a change of age groups for some players and an 18 AND UNDER division has been added to give those players a chance to play some basketball as there will be no seniors at this stage. These developments we see as being most positive for the “College” sporting programme and will link in well with our other sports on offer in a summer and winter format and associated logistical considerations such as training and competition times. Age groups and the years of birth for each division will be as follows:

UNDER 10(2012/2013), UNDER 12(2010/2011), UNDER 14(2008/2009), UNDER 16(2006/2007) AND “18 AND UNDER”(2003/2004/2005)

If you are a senior school student and WILL be playing or want to coach a team potentially also please fill in and return the attached ‘Expression of Interest form’ ASAP and by Friday 16th October at the latest. Miss Brabham will contact the junior school students when Term 4 starts about playing.

If you have any questions, please email myself or Miss Brabham if at the junior school.

Cricket

Excitingly, we have this week been permitted to use the senior school oval for training and matches. This has certainly lifted the spirits of all around the club as our new and improved ground will be used for training and game days. A special thanks to Dr Hirst and the College executive for their assistance in making this possible. Thanks also go to Mrs Williams, Mr Alexander, Lachy Patterson, Angus Brown and the rest of the CCC coaches and committee on the power of work they have been doing behind the scenes. It does not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

Boys training will begin next week. U12s will train on Tuesday afternoons from 4-5. For parents of College junior school students, please note that your child will be able to take the school bus from the junior school to the senior school if you are unable to provide transport.

U14s will train on Thursday nights at the College senior oval from 15:45-17:00 and U16s on Thursday also from 17:00- 18:15. Please note that COVID restrictions apply. Groups will contain no more than 10 players per group.

Thank you for your continued patience and we look forward to a successful and hopefully an uninterrupted season.

Rowing

Planning for the 2020/21 rowing season is under way.  At this stage there will be no regattas held in Term 4, 2020. Rowing training will be held after school each Tuesday and Thursday commencing in Week 3, Tuesday 20 October. Students in Year 7 – 12 have been sent an expression of interest form.  If you would like any further information about rowing please contact me.
