We love our roles at Brunswick Secondary College and, with the help of the entire Peer Support Team, we are excited to help the Year 7 students thrive. We really enjoy being able to help others while also contributing to the school community, and are looking forward to facilitating the growth and development of the Year 7 students.
Peer Support are the student lead group responsible for student wellbeing, with a
focus on the Year 7 transition to secondary school.
One of our main projects this year is a Mentor Program we hope to launch
next term. Eager Year 7 students will be matched with Year 10 students, to be supported and mentored through the Cocurricular program. The Year 7 students will be able to come along and make new friends, meet students from different year levels, develop skills and have fun!
This week, we had the wonderful opportunity to join a couple of Year 7 Home Group classes to run some fun games and activities with them. This is all part of our goal to improve or visibility and help bridge the gap between
the Junior and Middle School cohorts. We hope this will help all students connect
better to the school environment and culture.
The Peer Support group meets every week and is part of the Cocurricular Program. This week we invited some Year 7 Home Group teachers to join our discussions via the Teams group chat function.

Year 10
such a great opportunity because
not only are you able to work with your peers, you are able to help out kids in the lower year levels who
might be too scared to ask for help.
We were able to spend time with some Year
7 students in their Home Group class which
was an awesome experience, as they
were engaging and were willing to
contribute to the conversation. In the future, I look forward to organising more activities with the help of other team members.

Year 10
Being a part of the Peer Support
team this year has been a fantastic
opportunity to work with new people and to learn very useful skills.
Recently, we spent time with some Year 7 students during a Home Group lesson and had the amazing opportunity to get to meet
some of them and see how they have been finding remote learning which was really interesting. I'm really looking forward to planning future activities to do with the Year
7 students.
