Trans Awareness Week
November 13 - 20 each year, Trans Awareness Week is an important week in the trans calendar because it raises the visibility of trans people around the world. It is about educating, celebrating, raising awareness, advocating, sharing stories of our lives, experiences, successes, and community.
Pets on Parade
The Rotary Club of Torquay have just launched “PETS on PARADE” a Virtual Pet Show which will be running for the month of November, and would greatly appreciate if you are able to also promote this for us in The Surf Coast Times.
We are encouraging people particularly local kids to enter a pic of their Pet in one of the following categories:-
- Dogs
- Funniest
- Golden Oldie
- Cats
- Cutest
- Action Cat
- Best “non-traditional” pet
- Best friends
Entry is $5 per picture with the proceeds going to 2 Inter-related Australian Rotary Projects:
- END TRACHOMA -Australia is the world's only developed country with trachoma, an infectious eye disease that can be prevented with good hygiene practices. The World Health Organisation has a global goal to eliminate trachoma by 2020. Trachoma is still present in remote Aboriginal communities and can lead to permanent blindness.
- 100 Toiletry Kits for children in the Nothern Territory which will help to stop trachoma from spreading between children.
We are hoping to attract entries from local families and children and have some great prizes to be won provided by our event sponsors Torquay Toys, Mobile Vet Geelong, Torquay Stockfeeds, Bunnings, Torquay Animal House Torquay and Surfcoast Veterinary Clinics.
PLEASE NOTE:- Entries close Monday 30 November 2020.
