Semester 2

Progress Reports - Update

All students will receive their Semester 2 report digitally via Compass on Thursday 17th December.

You will notice some changes to your child’s report this semester. This is for 3 reasons.

1. As a school, we are moving to strengthen learning goals in key curriculum areas and you will notice this in the report. There is less focus on an extended narrative comment and more focus on key learning goals with the use of an age-related 5-point scale that indicates student learning.

2. The DET has provided revised guidelines on assessment and reporting factoring in remote learning.

3. We have updated the software we use to write our reports and are now using the Compass reporting module.

In this semester’s report for your child you will find the following sections:

Section of the Report

   What it contains

Semester   Subject Overviews

These outline what was taught in key curriculum areas

Subject Area Progression Points

Optional Parent Reflection

This section would have been completed by you, the parent or carer, in our parent reflection survey

Student Self-Assessment

Specialist Subject Reports

For each specialist subject, you will find a short overview including key skills targeted and learning goals aligned with the Victorian Curriculum Achievement Standards targeted in Term 4.

The challenges presented in 2020 have highlighted the important link between home and school partnerships that focus on student learning. The staff truly appreciate the support at home provided by families during remote learning. Likewise, we know families have a newfound appreciation and understanding of the important work of teachers and education staff in student learning.

During 2021, we hope to continue to strengthen our assessment and reporting even more by making links with the Seesaw learning platform to showcase evidence of learning goals.
