Science Talent Search

This year the Science Talent Search was conducted completely online, with students working independently from home.  This raised a set of additional challenges but many students showed great passion and came through with excellent projects.

The following students received certificate awards for their projects:

Joshua Chapman (Year 7)

Rupini Marimuthu (Year 8)

Aayush Kant (Year 9)

Emma Parfitt (Year 11)

In addition, 3 of our students received bursary prizes for their projects:

Mason Bartholomeusz (Year 9)

received a Minor Bursary for his working model of a wave powered generator.

Belle Shi (Year 9)

received a Major Bursary for her research poster on Oceanic Aqua Culture.

Lachlan Chau (Year 11)

received a Major Bursary for his research into the Effects of Blue Light on Sleep Quality and was also nominated for the National BHP Foundation Science and Engineering Awards for 2021 – results for this have not been released yet.

The school was also a recipient this year of the Hugh McKnight Encouragement Awards for the diversity and quality of our projects, which included a small bursary for the science department.

Well done to all who participated and looking forward to next year’s competition!
