SAKG - Garden

THANKYOU FROM THE SAKG KITCHEN PROGRAM!

On behalf of the students and teachers, I would like to extend a VERY BIG THANKYOU to ALL of the volunteers who have helped in the kitchen this year. Your help has been invaluable in providing a safe and successful program. I feel we have all learnt from each other and the students have developed some amazing skills under your watchful eye in their kitchen sessions.

Last week we were very successful in making fresh fettucine with a creamy spinach and roasted tomato sauce. We also made berry, rhubarb and coconut slice. Rhubarb and berries were from our garden of course.  This week we will be making some spinach and pesto pizzas, salad and Xmas gingerbread.

I would also like to extend a VERY BIG THANK YOU to Natalie Baumgurtel for all her efforts in organising and coordinating the volunteer roster for the last 3 terms. Natalie has very kindly offered to perform this role again next year. Thank you so much Natalie. Look out for information regarding volunteers in next week’s newsletter.

I would also like to acknowledge Phillippa’s Bakery. They support the program by providing organic flour and their delicious breads free to all SAKG kitchen programs in Victoria.  Very generous!

I would also like to thank all the people who have donated produce eg lemons, oranges etc  and provided jars for our wonderful olives.

Wishing you and your families a happy and safe holiday and happy cooking!

GARDEN OPEN AFTERNOON

Thank you to our school community and all of the children involved in this year's garden program for helping to make the Open Afternoon a great success. The children were very enthusiastic and a great help in setting up our stalls, being tour guides and selling plants and our preserved olives. It was a sunny afternoon and fun was had by all. Thank you also to all our volunteers who assisted during the lead up and on the day itself.
