Book Week 2020

Each year since 1945, the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) promotes and celebrates children’s books during August every year and announces the Book of the Year to:

  • promote quality literature for young Australians;
  • support and encourage Australian writers and illustrators of children’s books and;
  • engage the community with literature and promote a lifelong love for reading.

This year CBCA Book Week ran from 17 to 23 October and the theme was Curious Creatures, Wild Minds.

To celebrate Book Week, we organized a CBCA Book Week special display. We also ran the Reading Café on Wednesday to inform the students about Book Week celebration, we handed out lucky door prizes and we had a bookface competition.

IEC to HS Transition Program - Term 3

Students in the IEC to HS Transition Program attended the library for an information session at the beginning of this term.

These students learnt about how to research for their assignments using the Information Skills Process (ISP) stages as a guide. They learnt about how to search online and select credible websites and to use different search engines. Students explored various tips to search the internet which included using the Boolean Search Operators, quotations marks and bookmarking links. Students also learnt about what a bibliography is and how to create one as well. Students enjoyed the activities very much and were engaged in discussions about what they have learnt.

Welcome to Evans High School! Wishing everyone in this group best of luck!
