CAPA
The past term has been an extremely busy one for CAPA. Our Year 12 Visual Arts and Music students were working hard at completing their Higher School Certificate Body of Works and Practical Examination respectively. Once again we are incredibly proud of the growth and development of their skills and you can see the success of our students on the website and in the video attached to this report. You may have also noticed some of these Visual Arts works on display in the front foyer of the school office.

Beyond the HSC, students across all years have been producing high quality practical projects and preparing for their upcoming Yearly Examinations. We wish our students all the best in these important Assessment Tasks.
In co-curricular news, the Solid Ground program has been working towards two new works to showcase during NAIDOC Week. One of these is a song composed and choreographed by the students with the support of mentors Emma Donovan and Neville Boney. The group recorded a music video, which was filmed by members of the Year 11 Photography Class. Check out the video below or on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
PDHPE
The PDHPE faculty is happy to have returned to normal sports at school, as are our students!
Throughout Covid-19 we have implemented additional measures to ensure our students and staff are safe. We were fortunate enough to be able to purchase more sporting equipment so that students could engage in more individual sporting activities during their PE practical lessons and during sport on Friday.
We are excited to have booked in our sporting carnivals for next year and cannot wait to get back to some whole school initiatives, if the Covid-19 situation continues to improve.

EAL/D
In Terms 3 and 4, the EALLS faculty organised a 3-Day Transition Program for IEC students to enable them to transition into the high school smoothly. For first four days of Term 3, various literacy, numeracy, subject taster lessons and team building activities were organised by all the members of the EALLS Faculty and with the assistance of Ms Taufique (IEC), Ms Chalhoub (librarian) and Ms Espejel (HSIE teacher).
Similarly, in Term 4, the EALLS staff, Ms Taufique and all the members of the school’s transition team contributed towards another successful 3-Day Transition Program. A range of students from the high school were appointed as buddies to the new students and they diligently carried out their responsibilities.
Student testimonials:
‘The orientation program that our teachers prepared for us made us all feel welcomed to high school. Thank you for this support’. - Gunez Ozatca
‘I found being a buddy amazing because I was in a similar position like the new students before. It felt good helping the new students. I enjoyed the transition program plus found it very helpful.’ - Ali Rolim (Ex IEC Student and a high school buddy)
‘I felt happy that I was able to help some new students – even though I was nervous to talk in front of them. Being a buddy was a great experience’. - Oscar Ghazoul (Ex IEC Student and a high school buddy)
The EALLS faculty also coordinated Check-in Assessments for Year 9 and HSC minimum standards examination for Year 10, 11 and 12 which ran smoothly.
