Tournament of the Minds

Tournament of the Minds 2022

On Saturday August 20, a group of Scoresby students ventured to Deakin University Burwood with great excitement to participate in the Tournament of the Minds competition. This competition pits school from across Melbourne in challenges chosen from the areas of the Arts, STEM, Language and Literature and Social Sciences. The aim of the Tournament is to develop capability in critical and creative thinking as well as foster team co-operation.

Our dedicated team members were Adam Du, Jett Crick, Abigail Tan, James Little, Sammi Willems and Ava Byrne. The students chose to participate in the STEM challenge. The task was to create a special machine which displayed a gold nugget on a rotating and tilting platform.

The Scoresby team spent many lunchtimes throughout terms one and two developing and refining their creation. On Tournament day they made a very competent and entertaining presentation to the judges who commended them for their unique approach to the set task.

A big thank you to all team members and their parents who supported them in taking on this year’s challenge.
