October is Mental Health Month

Mental Health Month is an initiative of the Mental Health Foundation Australia (MHFA) to raise awareness of mental health. It is an important time where the community comes together to promote better mental health for all. Throughout this month, several events have been organised in each state and territory aiming to attract and unite Australians of all ages and backgrounds to raise awareness and promote better mental health for all. The 2022 campaign theme is ‘Building Resilience: Communities and Connections’, which is something Scoresby Secondary College recognises are essential for all our staff, students and families.

A worthwhile community webinar coming up on Wednesday October 19 and presented by the Black Dog Institute is ‘Navigating Your Teen’s Mental Health’. It is a free, 45-minute online event. For more details and to register, use the link below:

Doctors in Secondary Schools Program

The Doctors in Secondary Schools program is running this term and bookings are available for students.

Dr Prashima and Nurse Tania from the Manningham General Practice will be available in the school clinic on Thursdays. The clinic is located next to sickbay.

Dr Prashima will provide students with the same services as those of any GP in the community. Consultations will be bulk billed through Medicare, so there will be no out-of-pocket expenses for the student or their parent/carer.
