Around The Primary
Dear Parents
It is hard to believe that another term has ended already! It has been wonderful to see the way our students have listened to the advice of teachers and worked hard to finish the term off in a positive way and continued to treat each other with kindness and respect. Special thanks to our dedicated staff for keeping the learning and fun going right to the end.
The Arts are a valuable and an important part of our school curriculum. This term the students have participated well in the weekly dance lessons and tried hard to refine their dance moves. We hope you all enjoyed the Dance Showcases!
There were smiles all round in Roncalli Hall for the Year 3 Assembly. Congratulations to all our talented and enthusiastic Years 3s and Miss Driscoll, Miss Howard, Mrs Kojundzich and Mrs Haydon for creating a very special presentation in English, Noongar and Auslan for us all to enjoy.
Wishing you all a very happy, safe and relaxing holiday break with your children.
We look forward to catching up with many families at our Grandparents’ Picnic on Thursday 13 October, this is always a special event for our community.
Kind regards
Antoinette De Pinto
Head of Primary

Checkmate
On Wednesday lunchtime in the Library the Grand Finals of the Primary Chess competition were played. The standard of play was exceptional, and all the games came down to the wire.
In the Year 5 & 6 Division, Christopher Tan trapped Isaac Nikoloski’s King in the corner to take the win. The Year 2 & 3 division was a very eventful affair, with both Alex Kong and Ashton Godfrey making strong and bold moves. Ultimately it was Alex Kong that went on to win this age group. The Year 4 division final was the closest, with Daniel Tan winning by an extra piece at the end of time. Sammy Travis is to be commended for his outstanding sportsmanship and game play that saw the advantage seesaw continuously.
Several very big thankyous are in order for this competition to take place. Miss De Pinto was amazing with her level of organization, her ability to get the players to the Library on time and with the selection of the medals for all the players. Two Year 10 students, Tom Hudson and Max Watt from the Secondary Chess Club, came to help the students learn the intricacies of this thought-provoking game and were outstanding role models for the younger students.

The shows included stories of preparing for bedtime through singing, dancing and acting. Each student had a speaking role and an instrument to play. The students enjoyed wearing their pyjamas to school and bringing their soft toy ‘special friend’ to the performance. Congratulations to all the Year One students involved – we are very proud of you!
