A week with a difference

The Public holiday this week in honour of Queen Elizabeth II meant a slightly different conclusion to Term 3. We have all learnt to be flexible over the past few years and, fortunately, our Year 12 Trial Examinations have not been impacted and we have had a relatively normal end of term. I enjoyed attending our Year 12 Music Recital this week being the first of many significant farewell events for our Class of 2022. For our younger students, our dance showcases were a lot of fun for participants and thoroughly enjoyed by our audiences.

Last Saturday marked the conclusion of the season for our netballers and rowers and celebratory events were well attended. Victories in Creative Edge finals highlighted the talents of our Magis students and the excellent coordination by Miss Daisy Farley. It was a busy Saturday with some of our students attending multiple events.

During the school holidays, our builders will be securing our new Staff Building ready for fit out during Term 4. As previously reported, we have had COVID related labour and supplies delays, but we have been very happy with the work that has been completed. Our JTC Village of demountable classrooms has certainly allowed the College to function with minimal disruption.

We often say that schools are about students, staff and families rather than buildings. That is very true. However, it has been heartening to see how well our students are engaging with our refurbished, Ignatius Centre (Library). The dream is to provide an environment to stimulate and encourage learning. The current usage of the Innovate, Study, Collaborate and Discover sections of the Ignatius Centre is wonderful. Long may the learning continue!
