From the Principal

I am so excited about this term. Everyone is busy and productive at school and there are so many opportunities to see the wonderful learning happening in classrooms.

This is not to say that school life isn't difficult. Staffing continues to be a significant issue across our school but our staff makes sure that every student is cared for and that learning is the focus each day.

Last week our school hosted the Young Archies art exhibition at the CWA hall. Framed artworks from many local primary schools that are members of SPARKe were on display and it was wonderful to have Deputy Mayor Gerald Power judge and open the exhibition. Our local winners were Myah and Lewis - congratulations to our budding artists.

In the last 3 weeks we have had many visitors to our school (see Anson in Review) and next Monday, we welcome senior officers from the Department of Education who will tour the school and meet our students. I feel very proud to be able to show off our amazing school to the Secretary of Education's senior team.

We will be enjoying NAIDOC activities throughout this week and even though the weather didn't allow us to march yesterday, the students were still able to meet together at the Function Centre and support the theme of Get Up, Stand Up, Show Up.

I have been meeting up with the Principals from the other specialist settings in Bathurst , Cowra and Dubbo and we are exploring ways we can work together and organise sporting and cultural events together. The first meeting was held at our school and next week I am travelling to Dubbo to visit Yawarra School and to look at further ways we can promote the partnership between our schools.

This term marks the implementation of the new Inclusive Engaging Respectful (IER) policies with changes to the suspension processes. I will be speaking about this at the next P&C meeting on Tuesday 22nd November at 9:15am in the cafe, so please come along if you would like to know more about these changes.

The weather is really making times challenging at school, as we have to wait for 2 weeks of clear weather before the OOSH hub can be delivered on the campus site. Unfortunately, we have been waiting months for this new building and will need to wait a while longer before it is in place. The back shed is also just waiting for the weather to clear and then it will be finally assembled.

Sending special wishes to our Chaplain Mrs Anne Neville who has not been well. We hope to see her back at school in the near future.

Stay dry and warm.
