Community Bank Warrandyte - Community Investment Program grant

We had some great news this week, with our school being awarded $15,000 by the Community Bank Warrandyte and Community Enterprise Foundation to help us upgrade the lighting in our 440-seat performing arts theatre.

The Community Enterprise Foundation is Bendigo Bank's charitable arm and helps support local communities through grants to eligible charities and not-for-profit organisations. We will be partnering with the Warrandyte Calisthenics College and we thank them for helping to support our grant application.

We have recently replaced the four main speakers in the theatre, which has made a huge difference to the sound quality but most of the lighting dates back to the original construction which took place under the Building the Education Revolution Stimulus plan in 2010-2011.

The grant money will go towards installing a new lighting bar and purchasing modern lights that will greatly increase the quality of lighting our theatre.  This will give us the flexibility to use the theatre for a wider variety of productions, both internally for the school as well as offering it for hire to external organisations.

Andersons Creek Primary School has had a 20-year relationship with the Community Bank Warrandyte and our first account dates back to 2002, soon after the bank opened when the Commonwealth Bank closed. Our Acting Principal, Meredith Thornton, was a founding director and a driving force behind the establishment of the bank in Warrandyte.

We have received several grants during my time on the school council and these have helped us with major projects like the building of the Learning Shack and the resurfacing of the oval.

Thank you to the Community Bank Warrandyte and Community Enterprise Foundation for supporting not only our school, but also so many other sporting and community groups. We are fortunate to have a local bank that understands and is focussed on serving and supporting the local community.
