A message from Cathy Ferrari

Wellbeing

As the year concludes I would like to publically thank the hard working Student wellbeing team : Kate Buzza, Anna Coelli, Elly Dillion, Stacey Nelson and Bernie Whiffen. Our community is blessed to have such hard working, and caring professionals supporting our students and staff.

I would also like to acknowledge the Year 6 Wellbeing Leaders: Sienna C, Elke L, Clare N and Adele M for their creation of a new role. We have started many new initiatives this year and our legacy will be our New Student Induction Policy.  Thankyou for meeting me on many recesses and lunches and your enthusiasm and dedication made working with each of you a pleasure.  I wish each of you the best as you commence secondary schooling and good luck with your future leadership roles, as each of you have a great deal to offer.

Student Services

Thankyou to each of the staff at St James for your work supporting each of our students at St James. The professionalism and care that you take with your Personalised Learning Plans and preparation for Program Support Meetings is to be acknowledged and celebrated. Each student is given the opportunity and support to flourish as evidenced by our recent Term 4 PSGs.  In particular I thank Kate Buzza, Ann Nicola and Sharon Portelli, who make up our Student Services Team. At our weekly meetings your care, wisdom and professionalism is actioned in all your dealings with the students and staff in your care. Each of you does over and beyond, and our community is very fortunate to have you.

Final Goodbye

It is with a heavy heart that I leave my St James family and branch out into the ‘big wide world’.  Words do not begin to express my gratitude and appreciation for the last eleven teaching years and in total my seventeen years here as a parent and then teacher. To have worked in this community has been my blessing and to the wonderful opportunities that have come my way, I am enormously grateful.  I look forward to seeing many of you in the shopping aisle or in Church St or Bay St and hearing of the wonderful amazing events happening at St James.  Finally to have worked with the Principals – Maureena Tilley, Simon Miller and Brendan Flanagan,  Deputies - Pat Berlingeri and Liam Buckley and each of the teaching and office staff at St James has been a privilege. Not many people can say that after too many years to count, that they love coming to work and continue to learn on a daily basis. My love to each of you and your children.

Thank you all for your support throughout the year, it has been tremendous with many celebrations. To name a few: Year 6 Confirmation, Confirmation Reflection Day Lunch, Year 3 Eucharist, Year 4 Reconciliation, visiting Sunshine to work with refugees on their English, Holy Week Liturgies, Family Faith nights for each class, Christian Meditation each Thursday and Friday and many more. Without the support of the St James Faith Team these celebrations would not have been possible.  Thank you Anna, Brendan, Cathy and Nancy.

We have been so blessed to have Father Martin be our Parish Priest this year and for part of last year.   Each class has celebrated a weekend Class Mass in the Pop up Church where they have been responsible for many different roles. Thank you Father for making these masses so relevant and engaging for our gorgeous children.

Thank you also to our Social Justice Leaders. They have done a fabulous job of organising our Winter and Christmas appeal for St Vincent de Paul. These initiatives make a huge difference in the lives of those who are vulnerable in our community.

Please join us in the Hall for our End of Year Mass next Tuesday (19th December) at 12:30pm.

Thanks again for making it a wonderful faith filled year at St James.
