Lions Youth of the Year

Lions Youth of the Year is about recognising such things as youth leadership, community & school involvement, academic success and public speaking skills.

Our three entrants Jemma Pokoney, Olivia Perkins and Andrew Barker all had to complete an intense general knowledge interview as well as give two impromptu speeches and a five minute  speech on a topic of their choice. All  three were well prepared, polished and extremely impressive, with Jemma winning both the public speaking section as well as the Cowra Youth of The Year.  We wish her luck as she proceeds on to District level and hopefully beyond.

Lions were delighted by the calibre and maturity of our students including our four Year 10 students who provided dinner time entertainment for the 40 plus guests with amusing and thought provoking speeches. It was a wonderful way for Lions to connect with Cowra's youth and to hear their voice! Well done to Drew Willis who spoke on the Consequences of the Technology Revolution; Xavier Gauci on Donald Trump;  Maisie Thompson on The Power of Positive Thinking and Sam Long on Holidays.
