OnStage Excursion

Stage 6 Drama visits Sydney

Stage 6 OnStage Excursion

On Wednesday 8 February, 17 students from Years 10, 11 & 12 Drama embarked on a theatrical tour of Sydney!  It was an early start at 6am catching the Countrylink Bus, before getting on a train at Lithgow.  Some of our group had never been on a train so there was a lot of excitement.  Wednesday evening saw us head to the Seymour Centre to view "OnStage".  This was a showcase of exemplary HSC Drama performances from 2016.  The level of talent was incredible.

Thursday was a very relaxed day.  We started by taking in the sunshine on the top of the YHA The Rocks, where we were staying, and wrote reflections into our logbooks.  We then headed off to Belvior Street Theatre Company to see "Jasper Jones".  Even with all these exciting events, it was our ferry ride under the Harbour Bridge at night that impressed everyone the most.

We weren’t very chirpy on Friday morning when we were woken up early for breakfast.  We had done so much walking around the city that our feet were sore.   We soon woke up when we headed to the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP) to see Intersection and participate in a group performance workshop.  Conditions were tough without air conditioning in the old wharfs when it was 40 degrees outside, but we learnt so much and were thankful for the skills that Drew, our tutor, taught us.  It was an amazing three days and we are very thankful to Mrs Rowston for organising it all and Mr Hughes for joining us as well. We all want to go back!
