Diversity Week - 1 August to 5 August

Diversity Week
Our Diversity Week will be held from Monday 1st August to Friday 5th August to celebrate the diverse cultural and minority groups at Melton Secondary College and in the wider community. We thought that it was important for the College to acknowledge the wide range of cultural groups at the school and that by engaging students in celebrating their cultures would help them feel more connected to the College. We are privileged to work with Melton City Council and our community groups including our Bhutanese, Macedonian, Spanish, Chinese, Sudanese, Filipino and Samoan communities. It is also important to respect minority groups such as our Deaf community, and to learn the important language of AUSLAN.
Our Community Engagement Subcommittee of School Council and our SRC have been organising events for our special week.
Many of the workshops have been coordinated by Doug Crowe, Year 12 VCAL student, and designed by VCAL students at the College. Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 will learn activities and showcase these at a Performance assembly on Friday August 5th from 12 noon. Parents and the wider community are invited to attend our Assembly.
Parents are also invited to assist with preparing and cooking our International food, in conjunction with our Food Technology teachers and students. Please contact our General office if you are able to assist. International food tasting will take place at lunchtime on Friday August 5th from 1.15pm.
