School Review

This term Melton Secondary College begins a School Review. All government schools are required to complete a review and this usually happens every four years in order to identify the school's strengths and achievements and what it could do better. The results of the review are then used to develop a Strategic Plan that will outline how the College will work to make sure that the improvements are put in place.

There are many things that our school does well. Our increasing enrolments tell us that families have confidence that our school provides many opportunities for a good education. But there is room for improvement and things that we must do to make sure that all students develop the skills that they need and that will help Melton Secondary College to develop into a really outstanding school. Under the guidance of our School Council, we are developing a strong vision for the future. The challenge for all of us, parents, students and staff is to get involved and to contribute whatever we can to  make sure this vision is achieved.

This work will start with staff, students and parents working together over the coming weeks in a Community Summit.

Last week saw the first part of the Summit with College staff and student leaders working in teams through a day of activities and planning. There was a great mood of optimism, creativity and commitment from everyone involved and our student leaders showed considerable courage and excellent team work to present a strong student perspective.

Community Summit

6.00 pm, - 7.30 pm Tonight at Melton Secondary College

Parents are invited to attend tonight's Community Summit which is being held to give parents the opportunity to have input into our School Review. This will also be an opportunity for you to meet School Council parent members including our President, Mr Chris Papas. Phone calls home over the past week have indicated many parents are interested in attending, but we are hoping that as many parents as possible are actually here on the night. A light dinner will be available from 6.00 pm onwards to keep us going as we listen to and share each others' ideas. Please contact the General Office to confirm your attendance on 9743 3322.

Parent Opinion Survey

The 2016 Parent Opinion Survey will be conducted during Term 3 from 25 July to 5 August 2016.

The survey is an important part of every school's parent engagement strategies and assists with future planning and improvement.

Parents from our community are randomly selected to participate in the annual survey, which is confidential and anonymous.

If you are contacted to complete the survey, please ensure that you return your completed survey to the College General Office by 5 August.

This year's Parent Opinion Survey is especially important as we need to have a clear view of how parents think our school can improve. The randomly selected parents will receive the Parent Survey in the post. As an added incentive, all surveys that are returned by the 5 August due date will be entered into a raffle for a $200 Uniform Shop voucher.  For any queries, please contact the improvement.
