An undergraduate experience

Year 12 Biology

Year 12 Biology students attended the Kickstart Heredity workshop at The University of Sydney recently,  where they experienced hands-on workshops to learn complex concepts using models,

instruments and experiments.

This experience allowed students to study a case of Sickle Cell Anaemia. Students performed DNA extraction, Lego-based Polymerase Chain Reaction activity, paper-based restriction enzyme digest and gel electrophoresis.

Throughout the experience at the laboratory at the Earth and Environmental Sciences building, students expressed amazement and excitement of an undergraduate experience in practical investigations.

Cecil Hills High School staff and students would like to thank the Kickstart team once again for a memorable and educational experience.
