The Women of Troy

Complete Works Theatre Company

Extending learning with live theatre

On Friday 24 February, Complete Works Theatre came to our school and performed a shortened version of Euripides’ The Women of Troy for us in our Performing Arts Centre. We have been studying The Women of Troy in our It’s a Tragedy English class, and saw this performance in preparation for our close analysis of some of the passages.

The four actors presented the main scenes and monologues, stopping between to highlight the critical themes and historical context. After the performance, they hosted a Q&A session, where we got to ask questions about the motivations and opinions of the characters and author. It was a fantastic experience, and we were extremely lucky to get to enjoy it along with several other Yr 10 and VCE classes. I loved the amazing props and costumes, and I really enjoyed seeing the amazing actors perform Euripides' work.
