Congratulations to 6KT for winning the ‘Fastest Class Challenge’. The final results were as follows:

Greater Western Tennis Championships

Good luck to Jesse McCarthy and Jemma Howat who will represent the Colac Division at the Greater Western Tennis Championships on Friday 31st March at Hollioake Park in Ballarat. We wish them all the best.

Sacred Heart Athletics Carnival

A number of children from Years 4 – 6 have qualified to compete at the Colac Division Athletics Carnival on Thursday 30th March. This will take place at Colac Central Reserve. Children will need to wear their sports uniform and school hat, and bring along fruit, snacks, lunch and drink bottle. Children will travel by bus to this event. 

The bus will leave Sacred Heart at 9:00am and return at approximately 3:00pm. We do need parent helpers on the day.

Please note: Students are reminded that the top two in each event qualify for the Colac Division Athletics, not the winner of individual races or classes.

 

Golf Coaching Lessons

On Thursday 16th our Year 5 and 6 classes had their first golf lesson with golf pro Michael Bainbridge. The second golf lesson will be held on Friday 31st March. Children CANNOT wear their sports uniform on this day because it is school photos. This will not affect their golf because they will be learning how to putt. 

 

Year 3/4 Netball Skills Session

On Tuesday 28th March, the children in Years 3 and 4 will participate in a Netball Skills session with Maddie Oakley from Netball Victoria at Colac Eastern Reserve. Sessions are as follows:

Year 3 – 9:30am – 11:30am

Year 4 – 12:30pm – 2:30pm

Children will need to wear their sports uniform and school hat, and bring along fruit, snacks, lunch and drink bottle. Children will travel by bus to this event.

Lawn Bowls Practise

This Friday 24th March the two Sacred Heart lawn bowls teams will travel to the Colac Bowling Club (Lake Bowling Club) for a practise. This will be from 11:00am – 12:00 noon. Children will need to wear their sports uniform and school hat. We will travel by bus to this event.

Greater Western Regional Lawn Bowls Championships

On Wednesday 5th April, the two Sacred Heart lawn bowls teams will travel to Ararat to play in the Greater Western Regional Lawn Bowls Championships. Children will need to wear their sports uniform and school hat, and bring along fruit, snacks, lunch and drink bottle. Children will travel by bus to this event. Parents/grandparents are welcome to travel on the bus if they would like to support this event.

Name: Louis Hickey (Yr. 6KT)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? Cricket is my facourite sport because I am a good batter and bowler.

2. What is your best sporting moment? My best sporting moment was hitting a six and a four to win Country Week cricket.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? One of the strengths I have in sport is my good leadership skills.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I love the competition. 

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Pat Cummins, the Australian cricketer. Why are they your favourite? He is my favourite because when I am older, I want to be like him and open the bowling and captain the Australian cricket team.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Australian cricket team.

 

Name: Reuben Duncan (Yr.6 LG)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? Football, because I find it fun and enjoy it more than other sports.

2. What is your best sporting moment? Under 14 football as a 10 year old.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? My best strength is my speed. I am fast which helps me in sport.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and it keeps me active.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Scott Pendlebury for Collingwood. Why are they your favourite? He is my idol and I like the way he plays football.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? Collingwood

 

Name: Asha Mahoney (Yr. 5RO)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? Basketball is my favourite sport because I get to run around, bounce the ball and shoot goals.

2. What is your best sporting moment? When I won the grandfinal in netball..

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? I am a good team player, I pass the ball to other people in my team.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because I get to run around.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Emma Why are they your favourite? Because she is fun to play against.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite team is Collingwood.

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? Tennis is my favourite sport to play because it is fun.

2. What is your best sporting moment? Running in the relay team for Sacred Heart in 2021.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? I am a good team player and I am a good sport.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and it helps you to get fit.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Gary Ablett Why are they your favourite? Gary Ablett is my favourite sports person because he was the best football player at Geelong.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? Geelong Cats
