RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

School Mass

This Thursday at 10:00am the whole school will be celebrating our first Mass for the year at St Mary’s Church. The original date had been marked for Friday however, it has been changed to Thursday and we welcome families, if possible, to join us.

The Commitment/ Harmony Day Mass brings together two very important ideals within our school and we encourage everyone to wear a splash of the colour orange.

During Mass, the Year 6 students will unite together in voice and make a commitment to lead our school in respecting themselves, others and the environment in the way Jesus showed us. We also gather to recognise and celebrate the Harmony Day theme ‘Everyone Belongs'.

On our return to school, commencing after recess, the children will continue to celebrate Harmony Day which aims to promote and celebrate cultural diversity, inclusiveness, and respect for all Australians, regardless of their background.

Hot Dog Day will be as planned on Friday.

Next week some of our students in Years 3 & 5 will be celebrating their Sacrament of Reconciliation. Over the past few weeks, we as a school community have been thinking about  times when we need to say ‘Sorry’ and ask for ‘Forgiveness’. May we also remind ourselves that there are also times when we need to forgive and move on graciously.

Last Friday 17th March, students and staff were invited to wear a splash of green to celebrate and recognise St Patrick’s Day. Throughout various stages, particularly within Religious Education, students learn about St Patrick. The Patron Saint of Ireland is also the Patron Saint of Ecology. There are many strong links we have to St Patrick, through our creation stories, land care, environment, displacement and for some, our heritage.
