What is Easter?  Easter is a Christian celebration. It is a commemoration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ as written in the Bible. It takes place on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the Spring Equinox (in the Northern Hemisphere). This year it is on the 7th - 10th of April.

Christians celebrate by Observing Lent and Attending Church Services  (Some at Sunrise).

Easter is also a celebration of the start of Spring, this is tricky as in Australia we are heading into Autumn! This is where the tradition of giving, decorating and hiding eggs comes from. As well as the symbols of baby chicks, lambs and rabbits. 

Some Australians celebrate Easter by Going away for a long weekend, Getting together with family, Hunting for chocolate Eggs and Being visited by the Easter Bunny.
