Visual Arts

Last week in Visual Arts, our Foundation students were introduced to the 3 primary colours, red, yellow and blue as well as the colour wheel. Students were able to experiment and mix primary colours together to create ‘A lion colour wheel’, where they made secondary colours, orange, green and purple. Year 1/2 students revised the colour wheel, where they mixed primary colours to make secondary colours. Students completed ‘A colourful vase of flower’ painting. Year 3/4 students also revised their primary and secondary colours by painting ‘Colourful balloons’ painting. Year 5/6 students also revised the colour wheel, where they used the primary colours to make secondary and then tertiary colours. All students were asked to reflect and respond on a piece of art that has been completed during this Term.

Culture Studies

This week in culture studies, all students completed a reflection/revision sheet on what they have learnt about the Italian culture this Term. ‘The counties shape, flag, greetings, famous landmarks, numbers, colours, Venice ‘the floating city’, Carnevale and Venetian masks. Students also continued to work on their Carnevale Venetian mask. They have all seemed to really enjoy learning about the Italian Culture. I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday.

PE and Health

Over the past two weeks of Health we have been concluding the health for the term. Students did a review of the term with a reflection sheet on what we have been doing for the term. This term we have been exploring emotions of both ourselves and others and we moved onto personal character strengths.

Students have enjoyed exploring these two ideas this term, and hopefully it gives them an understanding and awareness of how to have been relationships with their friends and family.

In PE students in grade 3-6 have been developing their skills and understanding of softball. The have progressed from hitting off a tee and having someone pitch the ball to them using a bigger ball. They have also had a fun day, with target games and dodgeball which they thoroughly love.

The preps to grade 2’s have also had fun playing target games particularly playing my made up Pokemon game and some dodgeball too.

It has been a great fun term of learning and games, and I hope everyone has a great holiday.

Interschool Sports

Teeball – Lightning Premiership

Last Friday 31st March our grade 4-6 students who have been participating in term 1 interschool sports had their Lightning Premiership. I was able to get a second girls team in the competition, so had to invite some more grade 4 girls to join the team.

It was a great day of sports, with the sun shining and students laughing.

Our students tried extremely hard, but didn’t find the form that they had during the term, only winning one game across the three teams for the day.

Our students showed great sportsmanship, and team work and further developed their friendships.

Well done to all students.

I would also like to thank Mr Duckett, Mr B and Ms Anna for their help throughout the term.

We look forward to term 2 sports which includes netball, softball and soccer.

Library Update

The first term in the library has been amazing. We have found a super motivated and happy library team that meets twice a week to tidy, sticker, and decorate. All library leaders have been incredibly helpful, and I am very grateful.

The class that borrowed the most books this term was 34C! Congratulations on having borrowed 240 books, outstanding work.

We had a tie this term regarding the student who read the most books: both Daniel C and Riley N borrowed 20 books each. Excellent work and keep on reading.

Wishing you all restful and relaxing holidays full of books and see you next term!

Miss Anna
