News from 4 / 5

Busy, Busy, Busy!

The last few weeks the 4/ 5's have been busy with preparation for our assembly last Monday where we presented our Foundation buddies and read out some of our work to the school and parents. I am very proud of all the students who volunteered to read out and share their learnings in front of all those people. Thank-you to the parents who could make it to support and watch the students present. Any communication around upcoming events and assemblies will be either in the school newsletter or in a group email. Please check your emails for communication from myself or the school as we do send out important information relating to your child regularly.

We have also been busy with extracurricular school events such as the 3 -6 bbq last Thursday night and the Twilight Sports this past Wednesday night. A wonderful night was had by all students and teachers and it was great to see most of you there enjoying these special events with us.  Here are some of the photos from the twilight sports night.

As well as these fun events the grade 5 children have been preparing for Naplan. Students have been practicing reading different texts and answering questions to assist them with their online tests which will be running each day this week. We wish all the grade 5's the best in their Naplan testing this week.  Results from these tests will be sent to parent later in the year. The students will be working through reading comprehension, writing, spelling, grammar and mathematics tests on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week.

Writing samples:

Everyone in our class has been working hard during all of their subjects and all have produced some fantastic work. I have included some samples of students writing this week for you to enjoy. This week's samples include 2 convict journal entries, a descriptive haunted house piece, and an informative piece about the government. All these excerpts have been worked on during writing and inquiry sessions over the past few weeks.
