New Staff

Introducing Science Teacher – Ms Laura Fisher

My name is Laura Fisher and I started my teaching career in 2010 at Simonds Catholic College, a boy's school in West Melbourne. During my time there I taught a range of science subjects across all year levels. From 2014 onwards I was the Head of Science, which I thoroughly enjoyed as I was able to work closely with the science staff, other faculty heads, and the leadership team. I have a passion for all things science, studying for a Bachelor of Behavioural Neuroscience at university, majoring in Pharmacology. I have to say my favourite topics involve the study of body systems, the periodic table, and organic chemistry.

My favourite pastime is reading both fiction and non-fiction books. My most recent read (that I loved) was a book called Hunt, Gather, Parent which looked at what Western parents can learn from Indigenous cultures in the art of raising happy and helpful children. I also love to spend time with my husband, one-year-old daughter and our two rescue greyhounds Frank and Buddy. We love beach holidays, and this year we holidayed in Pambula Beach, NSW. We also love to ski, hike and go camping.

Introducing Assistant Year 12 Coordinator - Ms Maggie Georgopoulos

Having arrived back in Australia in 2021 after nearly 20 years of teaching overseas, I have taught Physics, Maths, General Science, and Engineering at schools around the world. I have worked in approximately 8 different countries teaching, the most recent being Vietnam where I taught A-level Physics and was the Secondary Wellness and Enrichment Program Coordinator. I have travelled to many more countries delivering training in Mental Health, Leadership and Women in STEM over the same period. Prior to my teaching career I worked as a Mechanical Engineer in Oil and Gas, Automotive and Agriculture. I originally came into teaching through the TAFE system.

Most recently I completed my Master of Education (Leadership and Management) at Deakin University and am currently completing my research project on Mental Health in the Senior Secondary Classroom. I have also undertaken short courses in Special Educational Needs and Disability, Art Therapy and Educational Psychology over the last year. I most recently meet a long term goal of completing my swim instructor training.

Outside of school I enjoy traveling, reading, making my own jewellery and blowing off steam and keeping fit through Muay Thai. Travelling around the world and learning about new cultures is my passion, and I am looking forward to doing more of it as the world opens up again.

Introducing Mathematics Teacher -Mr Hayden Young

Hello everyone! I am a graduate teacher coming out of Monash University and am ready to bring my energy and passion to the classroom! I have had experience in classrooms through placements, Access Monash Mentoring, and the In2Science program, and have observed and developed a wide range of classroom environments and teaching styles.

Outside of education, I play badminton to a high level, love strategy games and other activities that get me thinking critically and I am always excited for new experiences! During holidays, I like to spend time with family and friends, but also have some peaceful time to relax, read, plan, and prepare for upcoming classes.

I can’t wait to be a part of the community that has grown throughout the years and have a positive impact on our future generation!"
