Learning Power Award Recipients
Congratulations to students who have been recognised by staff for their demonstration of one or many of the 6 Learning Powers celebrated at SMDP.

On Monday during our whole school assembly, the following students were acknowledged and their learning described so we all know why they are worthy recipients of our awards and applause.

PrepL | Ashton | for being a motivated learner who has been following his writing checklist daily! Ashton has had a red hot go at writing every day this term, even when it has felt extra challenging. You should be so proud of yourself Ashton, well done! |
PrepN | Maxwell | For being a motivated learner who is trying his best and a little more in all learning areas. Maxwell independently attempts learning tasks and is using word walls and visual aids to achieve his learning goals. |
1/2C | Hartlyn | For being a motivated student who shows a willingness to invest time and effort into her learning. She has been trying hard to up level her writing by using the word wall and dictionary. Well done, Hartlyn |
1/2S | Bless | For showing motivation to become an independent writer. She is becoming more confident in making mistakes and uses word lists and the word wall to help her spell unknown words. Well done on being an independent, motivated and determined writer Bless! |
1/2L | Dut | For being a resilient learner who has continued to persist in using finger spaces so his writing can be read easily by himself and others. Congratulations Dut on progressing your writing this week! |
3/4SL | Jonathan | For demonstrating resilience in becoming an independent writer by developing confidence in knowing that having a go is part of the learning process, and in doing so, creating effective writing pieces. Well done, Jonathan! |
3/4ST | Tahan | For being a collaborative learner who works hard to solve problems and listens to the viewpoint of others within her group. You thoughtfully make decisions to include and help others. Well done Tahan! |
3/4S | Oliver | For being a curious learner in maths. Oliver explores, asks questions and searches for answers. He has shown great learning growth in probability and chance. |
5/6L | Emily | For being a collaborative learner in writing. Your collaboration with your peers by sharing ideas and stories in our writing workshop was great to see. Keep up the great writing work!! |
5/6K | Maanya | For being a resilient and motivated learner. Despite being away for a few days due to illness, you were motivated and wrote a creative and descriptive narrative this week. You took the time to edit your piece of writing independently and produce a high quality writing piece. You consistently show these dispositions in class and you set a great example for your peers. Keep up the great work Maanya! |
5/6S | Oakley | For being a motivated learner who always remains focused and determined to complete tasks to the best of his ability. You have also shown such maturity and resilience in your ability to regulate 'uncomfortable emotions', to bounce back and achieve amazing things. You always listen to and include your peers and should be so proud of yourself! Great job Oakley. |

1/2L | Akul | For being a motivated learner who has been working extremely hard in his Maths sessions with Andrea. Akul has developed his knowledge in number and has been very motivated to always attempt problems and have a go. Well done Akul! |
3/4SL | Tanish | For being a resilient learner who showed determination by acting upon feedback, and as a result, created a powerful information report on the explorer Ernest Shackleton. |

5/6K | Marley | For being a motivated and reflective learner in reading groups. You are always up to date with our reading and prepared to share with your group. You take each book club role seriously and reflect on all feedback received. You encourage your peers during our meetings to share their thoughts each week and have confidently shared your own insights. Keep up this fantastic attitude and commitment to learning. |
5/6S | Umraj | For being a reflective and collaborative learner who consistently seeks out feedback to improve his writing. Umraj you have proven that you are able to ask for and use direct feedback to improve your writing- and it shows! You have also shown that you are able to work alongside your peers to reach team goals, by including others and directing learning goals. What an amazing achievement! |
